To The Editor:

VNA Systems, Inc, which consists of the Visiting Nurse Association of Central New York, Inc., Independent Health Care Services, Inc., and affiliate agency CCH Home Care & Palliative Services, Inc. recently celebrated National Home Care Month. Comprised of nearly 300 employees, these hard-working individuals care for more than 4,000 patients throughout Onondaga County and its surrounding areas. The celebration included an unveiling of a new “Keys to Quality Care” program that includes new fleet of agency vehicles that have been made available for clinical staff and highlights the organization’s pledge to provide the utmost in home health care by being respectful, caring, competent, reliable and ethical in all actions.

On behalf of all our organizations, I want to extend my most sincere thanks and gratitude to the many guest speakers who so generously took the time to show their support by joining us in our celebration at the Palace Theatre. Your strong, generous words of support continue to linger in our minds, as do the proclamations and certificates of recognition that you kindly presented. There truly are no words that can adequately express how grateful we are to you all. Included are: Jay Biba, Regional Director, Central New York Office, United States Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton; Brian Baluta, Communications Director, United States Congressman James T. Walsh; The Honorable John A. DeFrancisco; The Honorable Joan K. Christensen, County Executive Nicholas J. Pirro; Dennis Brogan, Director of Public Affairs, City of Syracuse Mayor’s Office; Amanda Nestor, Public Health Administrator, Onondaga County Health Department; Thomas A. Bersani, M.D., President, Onondaga County Medical Society; Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce; and Phyllis Wang, President, New York State Association of Health Care Providers, Inc. Much of the success our organizations have enjoyed throughout the years can be directly attributed to building strong alliances within the immediate community as well as those that transcend beyond it. Your presence served as evidence of the importance of those relationships. More than anything, it was an illustration of your belief in home care and the significance of its place in our nation’s health care delivery system. Finally, I want to thank my staff who provide the quality services that have made us one of the top 25% home care agencies in the country.

I am honored to be part of a home health care system that embraces its more than a century of experience and look forward to the future with optimism, enthusiasm and a commitment to continue fulfilling our mission of delivering high quality and compassionate home health care services. Thank you again to the leadership of our immediate community and beyond for your staunch support of home care. And thank you to all our employees, clinical and non-clinical alike for your expertise and professionalism. It is only surpassed by your dedication to serve our patient population with nothing short of the absolute best that you have to give.
